Sunday Show: Still Guarding The Galaxy

More action, more laughs and my enthusiasm gets cranked up yet another notch.

Dudes and dudettes, if this movie bombs I’m going to be extremely Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Poster-High-Res-570x844disappointed. Because, so far, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy looks to be a-frakkin’-mazing!

A science fiction/superhero mash up with some of Marvel Comics’ cosmic characters, Guardians is a relative newcomer to the comics scene. In fact, most of the members had been languishing in limbo until just a few years ago when several creators hauled the various characters out into the current Marvel Universe, dusted them off, polished ’em up and then sent them on to success.

But, enough of me yakkin’. If you haven’t seen it yet. . . What’s the matter with you? This is the second trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, starting Aug. 1, 2014.

Sunday Show: Guardians Of The Galaxy

Making a science-fiction comedy movie is hard.

Making a superhero comedy movie is hard.

Trying to do both at the same time. . .

Let me make that even more difficult. It’s easy to make either of those movies. Making a good movie that combines both of those elements. . . Dudes, that’s just about impossible.

I would say completely impossible, but, you know, I think someone is very close to releasing a really, really good science-fiction superhero movie action comedy. Yeah, that’s a lot of genres mashed up in there but, based on the first trailer, I think it’s going to be great.

I tell you, I’ve seen this trailer about seven or eight times now and I still get goosebumps watching it. Yes, I realize that could mostly be down to me being an enormous geek, but still. . .

The Guardians of the Galaxy are a mostly unknown comic from Marvel Comics that first debuted in the 1970s with a completely different roster. This version came about in the early oughts and enjoyed a relatively successful run before closing down. The Guardians currently are enjoying a new run, thanks to the movie.

I didn’t have to look that up. I told you I was an enormous geek.

Here’s the trailer. Enjoy.

The Cool Exec With The Heart Of Steel

Iron Man 3, the latest Marvel Comics movie, was, as I told you dudes on Friday, awesome!

How awesome, you ask? Good question. Why not take this poll and find out?

But this trilogy of Iron Man movies isn’t the first time we’ve been introduced to the Armored Avenger or his alter ego, Tony Stark.

There was a cartoon series in 1966-67 and it had, possibly, the best theme song . . . evar! It’s just about the cheesiest thing I’ve ever heard. Give it a listen and I think you’ll enjoy it. It’s less than 30 seconds out of your life.
