Freaky Friday: Seven Minutes Of Terror

by Richard

I’m still stoked about Curiosity landing on Mars, dudes.

I still can’t believe it. I mean, the whole idea for how to set the rover down on the surface of Mars was just plain crazy. And it worked. It actually worked.

Maybe you’ve only heard a little about how crazy this is. I’d like you to take a few minutes out of your life to watch this video from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory about their little Seven Minutes of Terror.

It’s about the time it takes for Curiosity to go from orbit to the ground, and the millions of things that could go wrong — but didn’t — on the way down to the crater in which it landed. Give it a look. It’s amazing.
