I love Halloween so much I’m giving up marital congress for a great costume. Thankfully, the costume seems to be falling into place.
As I’ve said before, the costume is basically to look as much like Jamie Hyneman as possible. A host of the Discovery Channel’s tv show, Mythbusters, Hyneman is known for his walrus moustache. And a walrus moustache is not looked upon with any favor by the lady of the house. Still, I thought it would be worthwhile to try for a living costume.
And it’s working.
This past week I was at Universal Studios Orlando with a few friends. We went to see the horror make-up show, which showed how some special effects in movies were done. One of the special effects was the changing werewolf face from An American Werewolf in London. The face and head had a lot of hair on it. Apparently it was real human hair.
“Where did they get that hair?” said host #1.
“From that guy over there in row two,” said host #2, pointing at me.
I waved to the audience, eating it up.
“Is he smiling?” asked host #2.
“Nope,” said host #1.
Host #2 smiled and walked toward me.
“Hey,” he said. “I love you on Mythbusters. Keep up the good work.”
Yes, even a professional liar — sorry — professional actor can see a good costume when he sees one. He also recognized mine. Just a couple of more weeks and then — thankfully — I can trim it way, way down. I’m getting sick of eating moustache hair whenever I bite down.
