Really, it was the downward-facing dog pose that did me in. My wife, known to many as She Who Can’t Sit Still Without Making Someone Exercise, had recently gotten into yoga and decided that it was time I joined her in a couple of sessions. I couldn’t say no. I mean I literally couldn’t say no. She wouldn’t let me.
We went to Charlotte Yoga for some hot yoga. How yoga? Yeah, they put us in a small room, trucked in several industrial-grade heaters, turned on said heaters, let the room approach roasting temperatures and then told us to go inside and start stretching our limbs into unnatural positions. Now, the downward-facing dog isn’t normally a difficult position, but when you do it right after thirty minutes of exercising your shoulder muscles and arms, it can be a bear.
Or something like that anyway. I fell to the floor in a sweating, swearing (lite) heap. Fortunately, none of the women laughed too hard. Except for my wife, known to me as She Who %$#& &^@#&@ and &@#!.
The good news is you don’t have to go sweat like a hog like I did to get some benefit from it. It’s really a great way to stretch out your body and your patience. One great — and quick — yoga workout is the arm stretch. Clasp your hands behind you, with your elbows straight. Keep your chest as far up as you can and then raise your arms behind you as far as possible. Hold this position for almost 30 seconds and then release. Rinse and repeat.
For more yoga you can do in a spare moment or at your desk, try hitting this article. It’s got some good stuff.
One last thing to help you relax is some more free advice. (Which is always worth what you pay for it.) Try changing your routines. Drive to work differently or watch a new TV show. Do something you don’t normally do. Although, I’m not suggesting you go out and bungee jump or anything. That’s just nuts.

Enjoyed your post about yoga. My boyfriend feels the same way. He fights it but afterwards is always happy he went. Too funny!
